MBA Programs With No GMAT/GRE Required

While academic transcripts, professional experience, and letters of recommendation remain important in MBA admissions, the criteria regarding test scores have shifted in recent years. Today, there is a growing number of MBA programs that no longer require standardized test scores or offer waivers for candidates who meet other qualifications like extensive professional experience.

This shift indicates an increasing recognition that test scores don’t fully showcase a candidate’s potential. It’s led to an admissions process that values diverse experiences and leadership qualities. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated this trend, causing admissions processes to become more flexible and inclusive.

At the Crummer Graduate School of Business, we are committed to developing global business leaders by prioritizing real-world business experience, skills, and drive over standardized test scores. Our MBA programs accommodate a wide range of candidates, including those who have never taken the GMAT, and our person-first approach ensures that all students have the opportunity to both advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to their organizations and communities.

What are GMAT and GRE Requirements?

The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) are standardized tests commonly used for admission to graduate programs, like an MBA. The GMAT assesses skills like analytical reasoning, quantitative problem-solving, verbal comprehension, and data literacy, with a stronger emphasis on math. The GRE, known for its challenging verbal sections, is often used across a broader range of graduate programs.

At Crummer, we understand that potential success in an MBA program isn’t determined by standardized test scores like the GMAT or GRE. Attributes such as professional experience, leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, and the capacity for self-directed learning are far more indicative of a student’s potential to thrive—especially for adult learners who may not have been in a classroom for many years. Recognizing this, we have chosen not to include these tests as admissions requirements. Instead, we carefully review each applicant’s qualifications, experiences, and potential to contribute to our learning community.
